Welcome to Look, Cook, and Eat!

Wow, does it feel good to finally say that! After years of thinking and imagining this crazy project; after taking a huge leap last year by putting the idea “out there” for the world to see and launching a Kickstarter campaign (and succeeding in getting it funded, thanks to you, you, and you!), and after spending the year since the campaign working with talented, generous people and making it a reality, our premier issue of LCE is at last ready for prime time!

I had coffee with a friend a few days ago and she asked how LCE was going. I sighed and said, “I think we’re finally going to launch this week.” She smiled and said, “Giving birth is hard work.” Truth. While I’ve never experienced the biological birthing process, I’m pretty sure this has elements of having children–manic emotional moments of sheer terror balanced by giddy excitement, feelings of “there’s no way I can do this? What was I thinking?”, nausea, stress eating, moments of physical discomfort. Nothing like actually giving birth, mind you, but not dissimilar either.

And like parenting, once this baby is out for the world to see, there’s a responsibility to raise it right. Yikes. But we’re ready for the challenge. Our goal is to create something that’s useful and helpful and meaningful to people. And we think we’re on our way to doing that.

But raising a kid takes a village, they say, and we need your help too. Tell people about LCE. Give a gift subscription. Cook with someone and see the look of pride on their face. Heck, you may even learn a new cooking trick too!

So here we go! Let’s DO this!
