Beware of Flying Broccoli!
We were tossing salad around on the Look, Cook, and Eat set last week, filming footage for a promotional video that will live on the LCE website and in marketing materials to help explain what LCE is, why we’re doing it, and why it will matter to people who want to live as independently as possible.
This video is the culminating project for getting LCE off the ground (although once LCE is “off the ground” the work really kicks into gear) and is very important to its success–it will be the first glance potential subscribers will have at the product; the first insight that corporations or organizations will have into our mission (which hopefully will translate into partnerships and/or sponsorships that could be very beneficial to our success). We have a great team of videographers in place who have an uncanny knack of seeing the whole picture while piecing seemingly disparate things together that are all shot out of order and in wacky sequence. Don’t forget: I’m a cook, and there’s always a very clear route from start to finish with a recipe. Not necessarily so with a video.
So to help us tell the LCE story, we brought in two of our stars from the Kickstarter video, Mia and Charlie, and are introducing a new one, Jenny, a Plymouth Grounds coffee shop barista and bang-up baker (she knows our brownie recipe by heart). While Jenny baked, Jess videotaped–pretty straightforward, but Jenny was not shy at all (which she can sometimes be) and clearly loved being the focus of attention.
The broccoli throwing thing was Mia and Charlie’s job. I told them before we got on set that they might feel funny about what we were going to do, but they rolled with it, acting as if tossing vegetables in the air was a normal, everyday occurrence. The sign of a fine actor, I say! I’m sure you’re curious about how the throwing broccoli scenes are going to play out in the video. Truth be told, so am I. But I know the story will be good, so you’ll just have to stay tuned.
